De affaire North:

Chief Inspector Bonner is summoned: John Thomas North has passed away. He soon had serious doubts about the diagnosis: cardiac arrest. Reason enough to investigate it carefully.
A conversation with John's wife Jane and Harry, his son, confirms Bonner's suspicion that some will not mourn the passing of Colonel North. He hopes to find the answer in Ostend.

Colonel North, benefactor of Ostend, has been given the necessary projects thanks to Leopold II. Modernizing Ostend and investing in Congo. What salad is behind this and more importantly for whom? And why is Bonner being chased?

The Affair North exposes a large number of wrong tracks set up by Leopold II. The moment of the last puzzle pieces for the burden of proof takes a special turn at the end. Tangible memories: Coastal tram, Northlaan

Jean Surmont:

After his career in education, Jean Surmont (1958) found the time and peace to pick up his creative pen. He has a great interest in history and its influence on the present. In 1992 he made his debut with a biography 'Willem Elschot, Tussen Droom en Daad'. For 'The North affair' he delved into the archives of his beloved city of Ostend during the turbulent period of Leopold II.
