Alexia Nüssler confidently presents her plan to the Parliament's Energy Committee to sacrifice a heavenly piece of nature for the construction of a reservoir in western Austria. This causes unrest in society. Allowing a centuries-old settlement in a beautiful valley to disappear under water leads to protests from a previously unknown environmental movement. When there are casualties, journalist Franziska Reiblinger sets out to investigate the protest. After the attack on a high-ranking official and later on an engineer, a profile rider is kidnapped during a stage of the Giro d'Italia. With her colleagues from the editorial office and a Dutch photographer friend, Andre Bredevoort, Franziska manages to lead the police to the real background of the unsavory actions. These go back to a distant past, when dark forces had other plans for the settlement.
Mist over the Maisass allows the reader to experience Franziska's quest in the enchanting mountain world of the Montafon region in Austria in a fascinating way.
